چکیده

The hope of precision agriculture is that through more precise timing and usage of seed, agricultural chemicals and irrigation water that higher economic yields can occur while enhancing the economic production of field crops and protecting the environment. The analyses performed in this manuscript demonstrate proof of concept of how precision agriculture coupled with crop simulation models and geographic information systems technology can be used in the cotton production system in the Mid South to optimize yields while minimizing water and nitrogen inputs. The Hood Farm Levingston Field, located in Bolivar County, Mississippi, next to the Mississippi River, was chosen as the test sight to obtain a one hectare soil physical property grid over the entire 201 ha field. The 1997 yield was used as a comparison for the analysis. Actual cultural practices for 1997 were used as input to the model. After the 201 simulations were made using the expert system to optimize for water and nitrogen on a one hectare basis, the model predicted that an increase of 322 kg/ha could be obtained by using only an average increase of 2.6 cm of water/ha and an average decrease of 35 kg N/ha. کاربرد روش تحلیل فراگیر داده‌ها درتحلیل رشد بهره‌وری کل عوامل تولید در زراعت پنبه ایران

Malmquist index computed by data envelopment analysis approach was used to estimate the total factor productivity (TFP) growth in cotton production in Iran during 1983-2001. By dividing this index in the two components, technological change and technical efficiency change, two major factors of productivity growth in cotton production were analyzed. Data was obtained from production cost system ...

A Novel Model for the Analysis of Interactions Between Governments and Agricultures in a Study of Social Beneficial Externalities Based on the Stackelberg Game: A Case Study on Cotton Production

Production is a key economic activity with potential long-term social benefits that can be thoroughly realised only if governments comply with their duties towards domestic production. Governments are responsible for the production of sustainable agricultural products via appropriate allocation of subsidies and regulation of price policies that would help take advantage of the potentials underl...

Economic Analysis of Price Shocks of Production Inputs and Their Impact on Cotton Price in Iran: The Application of Panel Data Vector Auto-Regression (PVAR) Model

Cotton is a strategic crop with a critical role in the economy and agriculture. The increasing price of crop inputs is the main challenge for the developing countries, including Iran, so that it is crucial for the economy of the states to recognize the underpinning factors. Accordingly, the present study aimed to identify the relationship between price shocks of cotton production inputs and cot...

Evaluation of seed cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) production and quality in relation to the different irrigation levels and two row spacings

The effect of row spacings and irrigation levels on the earliness of seed production of cotton was investigated under the Mediterranean environment of central Greece. This particular cotton growing area is exposed to risk of autumn rainfall that might cause low seed quality in fields allocated primarily for seed production. Two varieties of cotton, Celia and Hersi, were planted in two row spaci...
